Parts of the HVAC System that You May Not Have Known

The HVAC system requires regular inspection and repair for it to last long. Your health is improved and maintained when you have an efficient HVC system for it will control the temperatures in the house and purify the air clean. Learn more about the various parts of the HVAC system.

The supply outlet of the HVAC is attached directly to an air-distribution box named a plenum. This part of the HVAC heats or cools the air to control the room temperatures.

The ductwork is connected to the plenum to distribute the heated or cooled air to all the rooms in the house. Air pressure is equalized by the plenum so that every room is supplied with air at equal pressure.

A home’s furnace, heat pump or air conditioner can never miss air filters. Air filters are made from a clothing, or a spun of fiberglass or pleated papers that are enclosed in a cardboard frame. Air filters absorb and traps air contaminants like pollen, mold and mold-pores, excess humidity, dust, fibers and lint, hair and animal fur, bacteria and more to make is safe for your respiratory system. The MERV rating on the air filter will determine its quality. From the best to the lowest quality of the air filter, the ratings are MERV 13-16, MERV 9-12, MERV 6-8, and MERV 1-4.

Types of supply fans for HVAC systems, and they include axial fans, forward-curved centrifugal fans, and backward-inclined fans. Supply fans enhance airflow if it does not occur naturally or when you need more air to flow. You can control the speed of the fans. The axial fan is installed where airflow is static, or it flows at low pressure, and it is also the cheapest and the simplest to install. The centrifugal fan has higher performance level than an axial fan but lower performance level than the back-ward inclined fans. The back-ward inclined fans are used in industrial applications.

Evaporator or indoor coils are the synonyms of the heating and cooling coils of the HVAC. The air gets warm from the heat that is transferred by the coils. How you maintain the HVAC and its lifespan will establish the durability of the coils but they last for around 10 to 20 years.

There are steam and hot water boilers that are fueled by biogas, gas, oil, electricity or wood. They are made in several designs and sizes which makes their piping configurations to differ. Several designs of boilers are water tube boilers, fire tube boiler and condensing boilers. Minimize pollution by using boilers that do not emit polluting factors.
